Common questions about anxiety therapy

  • If any of the symptoms listed sound like you, there is a good chance you may be experiencing anxiety. Another way that you may be able to notice is how it shows up in your body. Often anxiety can feel like an upset stomach, chest tightness, feeling sweaty, or restless. If you are often worrying about the future, or things in general such as work, finances, relationships, and decision making- you may be dealing with anxiety. If you’re still curious, sign up for your first session and we can assess to be sure.

  • You will know therapy is effective by keeping the goals you set in mind during the first session. Focusing on those goals helps us to have a marker of where things began and where we are trying to go. We also take assessments throughout treatment to measure symptoms which help put things in perspective objectively.

  • Anxiety is often anticipatory and can be based upon a fear like an upcoming social event, losing your job, or finances. OCD is characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts that are often focused on things that are not congruent with your day to day character which can make it scary. Sometimes anxiety and OCD can overlap and I have experience to parse out what is what so that you can get the treatment you need.
